Before revealing the method by which to stop him, Son verbally states his distrust of Naruto especially after Jinchuriki have mistreated him in the past. As the Nine Tailed Fox listens to their dialogue, he relates to Son's distrust after he himself was simply used and sealed by many ninja in the past. Loosing himself into thought, the Nine-Tails recalls how he sought to weaken Minato's Eight-Trigram seal and hence free himself by influencing Naruto with his own chakra on many occasions. Eventually after experiencing many trials and battles, Naruto frees himself from his own hatred with Killer Bee's help and successfully takes control of the Nine-Tails' chakra, leaving the latter to ponder just what type of person Naruto actually is.
Could go either way. Minato's dead meat if he gets caught in Tsukuyomi, but there's really nothing else he needs to worry about; he can just use Hiraishin to save himself from Amaterasu and Susano'o. It's also a plausible way to deal with regular Genjutsu, since he can put himself out of Itachi's immediate reach and give himself time to break the Genjutsu. On the other hand, Itachi's really gotta stay on his toes and keep track of Minato's Hiraishin seal placement. Anything Minato touches can become his door in space-time, and if Itachi isn't careful, he'll end up walking right over one.Shiki Fujin makes this a draw, if Minato should find himself unable to finish Itachi with anything less (for whatever reason). Minato wins more often than not imo. With Full knowledge both Minato & Itachi know important things about each other's fighting style, but I see Minato making more viable use of this information. With a starting distance of 150m it gives Minato more than enough time to spread out his FTG Seals all around a good portion of the battlefield in front of him before Itachi reaches his location.
Itachi might try to avoid a battlefield where tons of FTG markers are already scattered about, but that would mean keeping a significant distance from Minato & relying on Ranged Combat. Minato can easily counter any of Itachi's long range techniques with S/T Barrier or simply evading them with FTG or Shunshin. Itachi won't be able to use Genjutsu at Long Range & because of that he won't get anywhere. Meanwhile Minato has long range Jutsu like Gammabunta's Drilling Water Bullets that could prove more effective against Itachi or at least effective enough to force Susano'o & since he has all of J-man's/Naruto's Toad's here a Toad army & Fusaku & Shima's abilities would also prove very useful in a long range struggle. Finally Minato knows that Itachi's chakra supplies are minimal so he can afford to keep playing this Long range of cat & mouse more than Itachi. So eventually Itachi is just going to have to close the distance between him & Minato which means coming into the battlefield covered with FTG Markers.
I'm sure Itachi will make sure he has Susano'o activated to defend before he does this, but this will still leave Minato with a great deal of options to win this fight.1. Minato knowing that Susano'o takes a-lot out of Itachi can afford to simply keep falling back, having Itachi chase him while using Susano'o until Itachi is forced to release the Jutsu or dies using it for too long, thus winning that way.2. Minato can teleport behind Susano'o with FTG & teleport Susano'o away, than finish Itachi with a follow up attack3.
Minato can use FTG + Hakke Seal or FTG + Shikka Fuujin to win, albeit in the latter case it would be very difficult win for him.& since Minato has full knowledge he will pick whichever of those options he finds most effective.Given the range, full knowledge, Minato should be able to manipulate Itachi into a catch 22 situation where if he doesn't come close he can't defeat Minato & ultimately looses any war of attrition & if he does come in close Minato is ready to use FTG to defeat him before Itachi could use any of his finisher techniques. Minato wins more often than not imo. Click to expand. Why is Itachi unable to use Genjutsu at long range? If Minato sees his eyes he can Genjutsu him.If Minato ain't looking at his eyes how's he going to anticipate Amaterasu coming? Even if he can feel the 'pressure' at such a distance he won't know when Amaterasu is coming.
If he teleports away Itachi can just fry him wherever he reappears. How are giant water bullets a threat? They don't seem to move with any unusual speed and Itachi is absurdly fast.
It wouldn't be hard for him to simply dodge the attacks.Minato also knows nothing of Itachi's stamina, he just has knowledge of MS and was too dead to know anything about Itachi's stamina. Click to expand. And get an Amaterasu for his troubles while doing all that. Warping Susanoo away is going to leave him open as he seems to have to stand still while using that S/T barrier. If he avoids eye contact he's leaving himself open to an attack from a blindspot by a KB or magic trajectory kunai and if he doesn't (likely considering how many have actually tried to avoid eye contact before fighting Itachi.and he lacks knowledge on Itachi's Genjutsu, unlike those guys who stared him in the eyes even with that knowledge.) he's going to get Genjutsu GG'd.Or Itachi could step through the S/T barrier with Susanoo. And if Minato tries to warp Susanoo away without the S/T barrier (teleporting it the way he teleported the Kyuubi) he has to teleport away too, making a surprise attack kind of difficult, what with not being there and all. Click to expand.Again the better question is when has Itachi shown he can cast Amaterasu at that range? Again Itachi has no feats of this & again the range of his Amaterasu is list as short range in DB II.You could bring up Sasuke's feat against Killer B, but even than Amaterasu was not used at a range as great as Itachi would need to be able to utilize it at in-order to stay out of range of any potential S/T Kunai or Marks Minato has set up.
Plus it's already been established that Sasuke's ability with Amaterasu exceeds that of Itachi & it's more than possible that Sasuke used his greater ability to manipulate the Amaterasu flames to send it at B like as a Fire Ball, like we saw him do so with Gaara 1. In-fact the way the panels are draw leading up to Amaterasu hitting Hachibi, would further support that idea as well 2. Click to expand.Bunta's Water Bullets are suppose to be seen as absurdly fast as well given the comparison the author draws between them & well bullets. On top of that Bunta can rapid fire them & they cover a wide AOE. I don't believe that Itachi will be able to easily dodge these through regular physical speed alone. Perhaps Itachi could use Shunshin no Jutsu to dodge them, but he'd have to cover a large distance to escape rapid fire Water Bullets & we know that the distance one can cover with Shunshin is determined by the amount of chakra pumped into the Jutsu. If Itachi keeps spamming Shunshin no Jutsu it should exhaust him over time, while Minato is essentially exhausting no chakra since Gammabunta is doing all the work.Plus Gammabunta could also slow Itachi movements down by spitting Oil on the battlefield making it harder for Itachi to move around & allowing Minato to detonate that Oil by creating sparks with his Kunai or an explosive tag any time he wants to.

Click to expand.& he should also quickly find out that Minato can handle anything he throws at him & with less effort than he can handle what Minato throws at him. Plus he should know his own chakra limits. Therefore he can not risk a war of attrition at long range where he'll probably run out of steam faster than his enemy. At least that would be logical train of thought I'd assign to some one as intelligent as Itachi, but assuming I'm giving his intelligence more credit than it deserves & he does decided to fight a long range war of attrition he would almost certainly loose anyway. So ether way the odds are in favor of Minato.I'm not saying Itachi would w/o a doubt loose every time I just think speaking in terms of probability Minato has higher odds than Itachi to win. & speaking in terms of Manga, if the fight happened in the manga than Kishi would probably have Minato win as well, it would just be a matter of how much difficulty Kishi made Minato go through to win.Edit: Also I'm really downplaying the importance of Fusaku & Shima which the OP has allowed Minato to summon (He probably could in the manga anyway, but whatever). Shima's Dust Cloud + Tongue Detection + FTG or FTG + Frog Call or FTG + Frog Song are all techniques that could cause Itachi huge problems.
& if your response is just going to be that you don't trust my translation over yours please keep in mind the totally illogical nature of that response considering that the Viz volume i'm referring to was translated by 2 professional translators, while the version your referring to was translated by I random Fan who doesn't have any kind of official credentials & isn't even recognized by the online community as being one of the best, in-fact he is recognized as one of the poor translators that made quite a few mistakes. Second the other statements are from the Fan-book and this is also translated by a professional translator, not some random fan, & the only translation I'm aware of. Minato's purpose in the fight was to protect Konoha from the Kyuubi, which he did. Thus he defeated the Kyuubi.
The Kyuubi's main purpose was to destroy Konoha, not to beat Minato. The Kyuubi failed in that regard, thus it was defeated. However, from a purely one on one perspective without anything else at stake you have got to be kidding yourself if you think the author believes Shiki Fukin is anything else but a tie. You kill yourself (and killing you is the main objective of your opponent thus he wins in that regard), while you also kill your opponent (and that is your primary motive).
