Boston Digital Ba7500g Driver
Built a new system for a client who has the Boston Digital BA7500G speaker system with a 1/8 inch ring tip sleeve plug that i plugged into the Realtek HD Audio lime jack on the ASUS P8Z77-v LE Plus motherboard. Have the latest realtek drivers and did thetroubleshoot audio playback routine in Control Panel. In Control PanelSound I selected Realtek Digital Output.
In the ASUS Sound manager under speakers I tried both Quadrophonic and 5.1 surround and clicked on the Play button there to run the test each speaker. Nothing, no sound, no clicks, no buzzes, justdead.I connected with a RTS mini cable the Lie jack to the audio input on the monitor and set the SoundPlayback to Speakers and in the Sound Manager I set the Speakers to Stereo. This worked, which tells me I can get analog audio out of the computer, but thecomputer digital output and the Boston digital input aren't communicating. Are they not speaking the same language? There was a post discussing using the realtek optical output to a optical to coax spdif converter (around $15) and then a RCA to mini female adapter to accomodoate the mini plug, but I dont want to spend money on s/t that won't work and how is the tip sleeveRCA (phono) jack convert to the RTS mini. Do I tie the sleve to the ring?

Or is this approach totally missing it? I mean if the Boston unit can't communicate through the mini digital output, why would it communicate through the digital optical route? Isn'tit still a language problem?OR - writing this up gave me a new thought.
When I push the Boston RTS plug into the lime mini jack on the MB, I can't feel a ring connector. Should I wire up an adapter tying the ring of a RTS jack to the sleeve of a tip sleeve mini plug, or some othercombination? I mean if the Boston digital is traveling on the tip and the ring, and the Realtek jack has no ring connector, then there is no circuit.I sent the wiring question to Realtek support via email. I will report the results. In the meantime, any ideas?
